Bringing Integrity Back to HVAC

Why Furnace Maintenance Matters
Keeping your furnace in good shape isn’t just about staying warm—it’s about protecting your home, saving money, and helping your system last longer. At Pendleton Heating & Cooling, we build every maintenance visit around three core priorities: Safety, Efficiency, and Function.
1. Safety First
Your furnace burns fuel to create heat, and that means safety MUST come before everything else. During maintenance, we check for:
Gas leaks
Carbon monoxide issues
Cracked, damaged, or burnt components
Blocked or deteriorated venting
Electrical hazards
Even small problems—like a loose connection or a partially clogged burner—can quickly turn into dangerous situations. Annual maintenance protects your home and your family by catching these issues early.
2. Efficiency: Lower Energy Bills & Better Performance
A clean furnace runs more efficiently, uses less energy, and heats your home faster and more consistently. Dust and debris are one of the biggest causes of efficiency loss.
Research shows that neglected HVAC systems can waste up to 30% more energy simply because of dirt buildup and airflow restrictions. Even a thin layer of dust on the blower wheel, burners, or heat exchanger forces the system to work harder.
Better efficiency means:
Lower utility bills
Less wear on your equipment
Faster heating
More comfort throughout your home
3. Function: Keeping Your System Working Like It Should
Annual maintenance keeps your system running the way the manufacturer designed it to. During a tune-up, we:
Test motors, capacitors, and safeties
Inspect the heat exchanger
Check ignition and flame sensors
Verify airflow and temperature rise
Ensure the furnace is operating within manufacturer specifications
Catch early signs of failure before they become expensive repairs
Maintain your manufacturer’s warranty, which often requires annual service
Think of it like car maintenance—you don’t wait for a breakdown before changing your oil. The same logic applies to your furnace.
Why Pendleton Heating & Cooling Is Different
Not all tune-ups are the same. Many companies offer “quick” or “basic” furnace maintenance that takes 20–30 minutes. At PH&C, we don’t believe a fast checklist is enough to protect your safety or your equipment.
Our Precision Tune-Up Sets Us Apart
Our service is more detailed, more thorough, and includes steps most companies charge extra for—or don’t offer at all.
✔ We remove and clean the blower wheel
This is one of the most important (and most ignored) parts of the furnace. A dirty blower wheel destroys airflow and reduces efficiency. We take it out completely and clean it—not just spray it with a rag through the access panel.
✔ We clean the inside of the furnace cabinet
Dust, soot, pet hair, and debris build up over time and affect airflow and component life. We clean the cabinet AND the functional parts inside.
✔ We practically take the furnace apart to clean and test it
This level of detail is typically an add-on service costing $200–$400 extra at most companies.
At Pendleton Heating & Cooling, it’s standard during our Precision Tune-Up.
Why we do it
Because it:
Extends equipment life
Improves airflow
Restores efficiency
Helps prevent breakdowns
Keeps the manufacturer’s warranty valid
Ensures your family’s safety
Our goal is simple: bring integrity back to HVAC by offering the level of service your home actually deserves.
Keep Your Home Safe, Efficient & Comfortable
Annual furnace maintenance isn’t optional—it’s essential. And with Pendleton Heating & Cooling, you get a tune-up that truly delivers value, not a quick “in-and-out” appointment.

You should have your HVAC system serviced twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. This will help to ensure that your system is running efficiently and effectively, and it will also help to identify and prevent any potential problems.
A programmable thermostat can help you to save money on your energy bills by allowing you to control the temperature of your home when you are not there. You can program your thermostat to turn down the heat in the winter and turn up the air conditioning in the summer when you are away or asleep.
The best way to choose the right size HVAC system for your home is to have a load calculation performed by a qualified HVAC contractor. This calculation will take into account the size of your home, the number of windows and doors, the insulation value of your walls and attic, and the climate in your area.
